The girls arrived in a little card board box. So the first order of business was a new home.

After scouring the yard, we decided the pool box would work just fine. Ter rigged a couple of polls for perches and we spread pine shavings in the bottom. We used 2 pie tins as feeders and quickly learned that that was not going to work. The girls love to get in the tins and poop. Um, gross!

So we bought these little attachments for our quart jars and viola! No poop in the food and water. (At least not for about 10 minutes!)

The girls quickly made the new quart jars their favorite place to perch. We learned that they like to go to the highest point they can get to.

As soon as they were strong enough, they learned to jump to the edge of the box.

We also learned they are very social birds. They like to do what each other does. So here's the second bird. They all have names, I just can't keep them straight.

Once the girls figured out how to get out of the box, we were done for. There was poop everywhere!
