Promotion Day

As a freshman in high school (middle school here in Utah) Spencer signed up for JROTC for the Air Force. This has been an amazing experience. He attended a summer camp for a week in August where he scored the highest points out of all the males who attended the camp. The reward was a plane ride over St. George. More about that in another post.

There are several days during the week that the cadets wear their fatigues (BDU's) or dress uniform which is what he's wearing in these photos. I thought he would get teased at school but there is a very high level of respect towards these young men and I'm so grateful for that. Even one of the school counselors said the attitude in a classroom when one of the JROTC guys is in uniform is totally different from any other classroom. Meaning the students have a more positive respectful attitude toward each other.
