You may remember that we bought a cow last November to raise for beef. She's the brown cow peeking between the trailer.
Anyway, today was the big day! She and her pasture buddy, Lulu, are going to meet the butcher.
When we unloaded them into the holding pen, they just stared at us. Bessy and Lulu never really liked us, they just knew we provided them with fresh hay, oates and water. So it wasn't heart wrenching or anything like that when we left them.
The butcher had a bunch of little piglets they were getting ready to sell to kids for 4H, so we decided that this year we're getting a pig. The kids are way excited! We could use some beacon and sausage in the freezer. YUM!
We are definitely city slickers trying to be country folk!
This litte pig would not hold still, I think Spencer's expression is funny!
These little piggies are so cute!
Brevin and this sheep dog became fast friends.
Sometimes, but only sometimes, I think it would be nice to live on a farm and have to learn to work and little harder. It really was a great family experience raising a cow. Megan swears she's going to marry a cowboy and have a farm. I said that's fine just as long as there are no animals allowed in the house!
