City Farmers

I don't usually feed the horses in pearls and lace, but this is Sunday, and when you're a farmer, you're a farmer every day of the week. Sunday-Saturday, rain or shine, holiday or not.  This was a great lesson for our family to learn. We got up every morning at 6:45 a.m.
It was my job to feed the horses,

Spencer and Meg fed Bessy and Lulu hay and oats

and Brevin jumped the fence to fill up the water trough.
Ter and Spencer would trade off jobs since Spencer has early morning seminary.
The Lytle's are our good friends who let us keep Bessy on their land.  We worked up a trade where we did the feeding every morning and they did the feeding every evening.  Sometimes when the Lytle's had to leave town, we'd take their evening shift as well.  They also had chickens that we added to the chore list and several horses and cows that boarded on their property every now and again.
